Our First Smoothie Recipe

Going along with our eating healthier this year, we decided to try smoothies and shakes. We thought this would be a fun a way to incorporate more fruits and veggies into our day!

For our first smoothie we decided on the following:

Bananas
Strawberries
Blackberries
Orange juice
Vanilla yogurt
Ice

Into the blender!

This smoothie ended up tasting so good that we made them into smoothie pops!

Fun and nutritious and the kids loved them! Think we will be trying out many smoothie recipes soon!

Have you ever made your own smoothies? Have any recipes to share?

Moms Run This Town!

A few months ago I was looking for Facebook pages about Central Florida. I came across an Orlando Mom's Running group and joined. After telling them a little about myself, they suggested I look into the Seminole County Chapter. I am so glad I did!

This wonderful group, called Seminole County Florida Moms Run This Town or MRTT, is filled with women of all ages and athletic ability. They accept everyone and help you reach your goals with encouragement and support. They quickly become your friends as well as support group.

I have only participated in 2 runs with them so far, the Peace, Love and Cure 5K and this past Saturday the Start Your Engines Virtual Race. This race was set up through all the MRTT Chapters and could be done at the individual races set up at each chapter, or individually and reported virtually.

How you like my training socks and shoes?

I walked this 5K as I am just getting back into training since my surgery. My husband Marc participated too! It was great that he was able to walk along with me as well as support me. The little ones came with us too and rode along in the stroller. I was very proud of Peyton as he wanted to walk occasionally too.

What a great support team I have!

The kids did great and dispute the nasty, rainy weather, we all crossed the finish line together!

We received some incredible swag in our Swag Bags and a very nice finisher's medal! I love this blue water bottle and maybe now I won't forget to hydrate on my walks with Delaney.

I won a prize, a wine glass decorated by our Chapter Leader! It looks great in my new china cabinet!

I am proud to be a part of this incredible group of ladies and look forward to participating in many, many more events to come!

If you have been considering starting an exercise program and would like to run or even walk, please check out Mom's Run This Town Local Chapter search and find a running group near you!

Come back and let me know if you joined!!

Estate Sale Finds = Furnishing the Florida Home

When we relocated to Florida, we brought very minimal furniture with us. We didn't want to take things that would take up too much space on a moving truck and we weren't sure if we were going to settle in ok at our new location.

Along with my quit being sad about moving plan for 2014, I thought it was time we decorated and furnished up the house!

This weekend we just happened to come upon an estate sale close to our house. The sale was almost over, but there were lots of great finds.

We immediately were attracted to this china buffet. So beautiful, and well taken care of. Expecting a high price we were surprised to find it very reasonably priced!

The woman running the sale asked if we would be interested in the dining table and chairs as well. We did need new chairs, so we asked about a package deal. She tallied up the asking prices and told us to make an offer.

We did, expecting a no, but she accepted our offer! So now we are owners of a beautiful dining set at a wonderful low price!

Have you ever come across a great deal at an estate sale or garage sale you couldn't pass up?

Date Night #1 of 2014

The hubby and I finally had our first date of 2014. Our son's school occasionally has nights out for the kids and their siblings can go too. Since we are already familiar with the teachers, we feel comfortable having them watch the kids for a few hours.

Marc and I decided to try a new to us restaurant in Sanford, as we had a certificate from Restaurant.com. Formerly known as Wolfys, Nemo's Bar and Grill is located overlooking Lake Monroe. The atmosphere was casual with music playing and multiple TVs airing different programs.

The waitstaff was friendly and happy to assist us with the menu and bar choices. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. The best deep fried pickles I've ever had!

With a large variety on the menu and a full bar, I think we will make another date night at Nemo's.

*Opinions are solely my own. I did not receive any incentives for this review. I purchased the restaurant.com certificate.

Getting Crafty & Making Headbands

I've always loved cute infant and toddler headbands and when I found out I was having a little girl in 2012 I couldn't wait to start buying some for her. Then I found they were quite expensive! She has had a few over the years, but doesn't usually keep them on too long as some of the decorations are just too big and outlandish!

I decided with my plans of being more crafty in 2014 that I would just start making my own! There are tons of places online to find headband making supplies, as well as shopping for accent pieces in craft stores or even thrift stores. I looked for some ideas on Pinterest, but then just wanted to design my own.

I enjoyed making them so much that I couldn't stop! I decided to start selling some at a more reasonable price than you find in most stores. A local consignment shop has given me space in their store to sell and I am very excited!

I named my business To You From Me, JoceyMcG and made some simple card and sticker backings until I see how well they sell. These are some that I have on display.

These are some of my spring and Valentine bands, along with a pic of my daughter wearing her own Valentine band!

I look forward to sharing more of my bands with you and letting you know how "business" is going!!

Have you ever sold your own crafts?
